Owned by MGM Mirage, the Bellagio was built on the site of the demolished Dunes hotel and casino. The building was inspired by the Lake Como resort of Bellagio, Italy.

- Most of the Las Vegas Strip, including the Bellagio, is actually located in Paradise Township, Nevada.
- One of the hotel's most notable features is an 8-acre (32,000 m2) artificial lake between the building and the Strip, which houses the Fountains of Bellagio, a large dancing water fountain synchronized to music.
- The Bellagio was featured prominently in the film Ocean's Eleven. The building and the fountains have been in several films and TV shows.
- The hotel also contains a Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. The displays are changed out five times a year and reflect the current season.
