The Curtis Publishing Company, founded in 1821 became one of the largest and most influential publishers in the United States during the early 20th century. This building, the company's headquarters, is an example of Georgian Revival architecture.

The company's publications included the Ladies' Home Journal and The Saturday Evening Post, Holiday, Jack & Jill, and The Country Gentleman.

The company was formed in 1821 by publisher Cyrus Curtis.

Dream Garden, a mosaic by the Parrish and Tiffany Studio, dominates the lobby of the building.
